2010 - The Big Four of Thrash Metal share the stage for the first time
On June 22, 2010, thrash metal history was made at the Sonisphere Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria, when Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax - collectively known as the "Big Four" of thrash metal - performed together on the same stage for the first time ever. The historic finale saw members of all four bands unite for a performance of Diamond Head's "Am I Evil?", creating a moment fans had spent decades believing might never happen. For a genre built on competition, rivalries, and larger-than-life personalities, seeing Dave Mustaine, James Hetfield, Kerry King, Scott Ian, and their fellow bandmates standing side-by-side felt almost surreal. The performance celebrated the four bands that had done more than anyone to define and popularize thrash metal during the 1980s, influencing countless musicians and helping shape heavy metal for generations to come.
